Average monthly gross salary over the previous 12 months
Annual leave pay is calculated based on the employee's average daily earnings over the last 12 months. The total earnings for 12 months are divided by the number of calendar days in that period and multiplied by the number of leave days. According to the Labour Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the minimum annual leave is 21 calendar days. Additional leave days are provided for certain categories. Income tax and DSMF are deducted from leave pay.

What is the minimum annual leave?
According to Azerbaijan's Labour Code, the minimum annual leave is 21 calendar days. Some professions are entitled to more.
How is leave pay calculated?
Total earnings for the last 12 months are divided by 365 (average daily pay), then multiplied by the number of leave days.
Is leave pay subject to tax?
Yes. Income tax and DSMF are deducted from leave pay — the same as regular salary.
How soon after starting work can an employee take leave?
An employee earns the right to their first annual leave after 6 months of employment.
Do weekends count as leave days?
Yes. Leave is calculated in calendar days, not working days. So weekends are included in the leave count.
