What is a child support agreement?
A child support (alimony) agreement (Family Code, Arts. 75–92) is a voluntary agreement between parents on the maintenance of minor children without court proceedings. The statutory rates are: 25% of income for 1 child, 33% for 2 children, 50% for 3 or more. A fixed amount may also be agreed. An agreement certified by a notary has the same enforcement power as a court order.
